Joe Rogan backs Khamzat Chimaev getting title shot against Dricus du Plessis after UFC 308 victory: "That guy’s a scary a** motherf***er"
Joe Rogan recently expressed his support for Khamzat Chimaev getting the title shot against Dricus du Plessis following 'Borz's' victory at UFC 308. In addition, Rogan lauded Chimaev for his impressive performance, implying that the 30-year-old must face du Plessis next.
Chimaev made short work of Robert Whittaker in the co-main event of UFC 308 last Saturday as he submitted 'The Reaper' with a tight rear naked choke in the opening round. As a result, the former champion suffered a jaw injury.
Rogan, who watched the fight live on his podcast's JRE Fight Companion with Bryan Callen, Brendan Schaub, and Eddie Bravo, gave his reaction to Chimaev's brutal submission victory, saying:
''That guy’s [Chimaev] a scary a** motherf**ker. That grappling is next level. He’s a beast... Once he gets a hold of you, it’s so dangerous...You give him the title shot. Holy sh*t. He gets a title shot, I think. Not just [beating Whittaker in the first round], but ran through him. He didn’t get touched. He ran through him and strangled him in the first round. He might be the guy...Think about this at [185 pounds]. So this guy was killing himself to get to 170. At 185, he’s the f**king man.”

Many, including Rogan, believe that Chimaev should get a shot at the middleweight title, even if Sean Strickland claimed to be next in line for the UFC gold. UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier also shared the same sentiment when he commended the 30-year-old for his outstanding performance against Whittaker.
Cormier uploaded a video to his YouTube page after the event, stating:
''[Chimaev] took [Whittaker] down, choked him, and broke his jaw. Broke his jaw with a squeeze from a rear naked choke...If you're Sean Strickland, that result worries you...That's scary to a guy that's considered the No. 1 contender."

Dricus du Plessis' coach confirms Khamzat Chimaev matchup next
Many expect Khamzat Chimaev to challenge Dricus du Plessis next for the middleweight title, as the reigning champion took to X and congratulated Chimaev for his win against Robert Whittaker at UFC 308. Du Plessis also issued a harsh warning to 'Borz' about delivering him his first professional defeat.
Du Plessis' coach Morne Visser recently took to social media and confirmed Chimaev as the South African's next opponent, writing:
''3 athletes that started their UFC careers around the same time @tomaspinallofficial @dricusduplessis @iliatopuria 3 world champions, that will stay champions for a really long time! Massive congrats to @iliatopuria on a phenomenal performance. We want Khamzat [Chimaev] next in February. Prepare to be amazed once again."
