Joe Rogan claims some knockouts change athletes forever
Joe Rogan has been in the fight business for decades. The commentator was one of the first employees the UFC had under Dana White and has become a very respectable name in the business.
In his recent podcast, he spoke about knockouts and getting too many blows to the head has permanently changed some fighters:
"That's what I say about knockouts. Like, some people that have been knocked out, they don't come back the same person. They're in a new world now, they're a new human, in a new way of interfacing because their brain is f***ed."
Fighters put themselves in danger every time they step into the ring. Anything can happen when two trained professionals go at it in a cage: broken limbs and lips being cut open to temporary loss of consciousness.
The sport comes with a lot of risks, and it is adapting to protect fighters now more than ever. However, even after they retire, some athletes suffer from brain injuries and chronic conditions such as CTE.
Jake Paul, for ulterior motives or not, is now bringing fighter safety to the mainstream narrative. His appeal for health insurance for athletes, if it becomes a reality, would financially safeguard fighters and their families in case of severe injuries sustained in the cage.

Joe Rogan responds to the viral video of him reacting to the results of Paddy Pimblett vs. Jared Gordon
At the end of 2022, rising UFC star Paddy Pimblett took on Jared Gordon. Gordon ended up taking 'The Baddy' to the distance but ended up losing in a controversial decision.
Fans and fighters alike believe that Pimblett did not deserve to win that fight as his opponent outperformed him.
Fan footage from fight night showed Joe Rogan reacting to the results being read out live and expressing his shock when Bruce Buffer announced Pimblett as the winner.
In a recent JRE episode with Dave Portnoy, Rogan reasserted his take:
"He shouldn't have won"
Portnoy responded:
"I thought it was a close decision"
Joe Rogan replied:
"I thought Jared won, I thought Jared Gordon won that fight. But, it was a good fight, it certainly wasn't a blow out... It was a close fight."
