Joe Rogan and Daniel Cormier replaced for UFC 284 in Perth

The UFC's second pay-per-view event of the year is set to go down this weekend. However, it will be without veteran commentators Joe Rogan and Daniel Cormier. With UFC 284 taking place in Australia, there has been a change in the broadcast team lineup, with Michael Bisping and Dominick Cruz replacing the two regular cageside features.

Due to his busy schedule of podcasting, standup comedy, and other professional engagements, Rogan has frequently skipped pay-per-view events that take place outside North America. This time Cormier will join him in missing the cage-side commentary booth.

According to a recent report by MMA Fighting, UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping and former two-time bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz will take over the color commentary duties alongside play-by-play fixture Jon Anik. This will be the first time the trio of Anik, Cruz, and Bisping call a pay-per-view event together.

UFC 284 will be headlined by a super fight between featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski and lightweight champion Islam Makhachev. The highly anticipated event will also feature Yair Rodriguez going up against Josh Emmett for the interim featherweight title.

Elsewhere on the card, Jimmy Crute faces Alonzo Menifield in a light heavyweight bout, while Justin Tafa faces off against Parker Porter in a heavyweight battle.

When Joe Rogan questioned whether Islam Makhachev could deal with Alexander Volkanovski's speed

Joe Rogan once questioned whether Islam Makhachev could deal with Alexander Volkanovski's speed. The host of The Joe Rogan Experience (JRE) once discussed the upcoming lightweight title fight at UFC 284 with Sean O'Malley and broke down the pros and cons of each fighter.

UFC 284 features a historic champion vs. champion bout that will determine the fate of the 155-pound title and the pound-for-pound No.1 spot. Featherweight kingpin Volkanovski will go up against lightweight champion Makhachev on February 12 in Perth.

Makhachev enters the octagon as the betting favorite against 'The Great.' With his significant size advantage and his impeccable wrestling pedigree, many have backed the 31-year-old Dagestani to beat the Australian.

However, Rogan questioned whether Makhachev would be able to deal with Volkanovski's speed. On an episode of JRE MMA Show (#133), Joe Rogan sat down with 'Sugar' to discuss the super fight. He stated:

"Has Islam seen anybody that can move as fast as Volkanovski? What if he starts catching him? What if he catches him a few times on the feet, and if he can avoid a takedown? I mean, you’re dealing with a significantly quicker guy, probably. [Makhachev] probably never fought anybody that quick.”
