Joe Rogan explains how Khamzat Chimaev's dominance surpasses Khabib Nurmagomedov's: "To do that to Whittaker"

Joe Rogan has heaped praise on Khamzat Chimaev for his performance at UFC 308, believing his wrestling ability may have even surpassed Khabib Nurmagomedov's.

Last weekend, Chimaev faced Robert Whittaker in the co-main event at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. The clash was to settle who would soon challenge Dricus du Plessis for the middleweight title, with both men looking to make their case with a statement win.

Throughout the build-up to the fight, the general consensus among fans was that 'Borz' would have to finish the bout early or he would succumb to Whittaker's experience of fighting five rounds. The Chechen star ultimately did just, using his wrestling and pressure heavy style to nullify any of 'The Reaper's' offense.

The 30-year-old eventually locked in a face crank submission in the latter half of the first round, causing Whittaker to immediately tap. It was then revealed the maneuver had displaced Whittaker's teeth.

Following Khamzat Chimaev's stunning win, Rogan weighed in during episode #2220 of the Joe Rogan Experience (JRE).

While speaking to guests Francis Foster & Konstantin Kisin, the UFC color commentator suggested that Chimaev has now surpassed Khabib Nurmagomedov in some aspects. He said:

"Maybe even more intense, maybe even more dominant [comparing Chimaev's ability to Nurmagomedov]. To do that to Whittaker, a guy who's a world champion, like even the Conor [McGregor] fight, it took a while before [Khabib] overwhelmed him...This was just an overwhelming victory. Khamzat just charged in, dove in, got him down and mauled him. Mauled him until he broke his face."

Joe Rogan weighs in on Ilia Topuria's UFC 308 KO victory over Max Holloway

Joe Rogan was almost left speechless while breaking down Ilia Topuria's knockout victory over Max Holloway last weekend.

In the UFC 308 main event, Topuria defended his featherweight title for the first time against Holloway. The pair fought a highly competitive fight, which demonstrated why both men are considered two of the best boxers in the promotion.

'El Matador' eventually got the upper hand in the third round, however, and became the first man to knock out 'Blessed' after landing a vicious left hook that dropped him to the canvas.

In the same episode of JRE, Rogan was nearly lost for words whilst discussing the Georgian-Spaniard, admitting he's one of the best boxers he's seen in the sport. He said:

"What Ilia did to Max, that was scary...He's so f*cking dangerous. When he hits you, it's different to anybody else. His boxing is so high level...Ilia has superior technique. His shots come straight down the pipe, his hooks are perfect...That left hook he caught Max with? Oh my goodness."
