Joe Rogan goes MIA during Jake Gyllenhaal's UFC 285 fight scene, Jon Anik takes charge
Joe Rogan was a notable absentee during the filming of the remake of Patrick Swayze's 1989 classic, 'Road House', at the recent UFC 285 event in Las Vegas last weekend. Parts of the film were shot during the pay-per-view event with Hollywood star Jake Gyllenhaal and UFC veteran Jay Hieron enacting an octagon fight.
Much like a real UFC bout, the filmed scenes included Jon Anik, Megan Olivi, and Daniel Cormier emulating the commentary booth action usually seen during bouts. However, keen-eyed fans noticed that Rogan was not a part of the regular commentary team and was replaced by Olivi.
In a video posted by @jedigoodman on Twitter, it is evident that Anik took his role in the movie seriously and reacted animatedly to Gyllenhaal and Hieron's fight. 'DC' and Megan Olivi can also be seen playing their parts as commentators.
While the popular podcaster carried out his color commentary duties as usual during the fights at UFC 285, Rogan's absence from the film's fighting sequence was notable. Interestingly, the famous standup comic was also missing in action during the filming of the weigh-ins and was replaced by Jon Anik during the scene.
