Joe Rogan heaps praise on Ciryl Gane's 'unusually' sleek movements despite being a heavyweight

Joe Rogan recently commended Ciryl Gane, who is set to take on Jon Jones for the undisputed UFC heavyweight championship in March.

In a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience MMA Show (#134) with Belal Muhammad as a guest, Rogan lauded Gane's ability to be light on his feet despite being a heavyweight. Expressing his admiration for the Frenchman's elite movement and footwork, the popular comedian said:

"Ciryl Gane does a lot of s**t that's very unusual. He stands totally sideways and does a twisting kick... Very weird... His movements, the fluidity of his combinations, and the guy moves like a middleweight and he's 240+ pounds... He's the most agile and probably the most technical of all the heavyweight strikers. Ciryl's very well-rounded."

Joe Rogan and Belal Muhammad went on to break down Ciryl Gane's performance against Tai Tuivasa at UFC Paris last year, highlighting his unusual kicks and evasive movement.

Rogan and Muhammad also went on to speculate on how Gane would fare against the wrestling threat of Jon Jones, after he was thoroughly outwrestled by Francis Ngannou last year. Jones and Gane will headline UFC 285 on March 4th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Joe Rogan on Jon Jones' heavyweight debut

In the same JRE episode, Joe Rogan questioned whether Jon Jones would dominate Ciryl Gane as he did against top-flight light heavyweights previously.

Jones vacated his 205-pound strap in 2020 and has been bulking up in preparation for his heavyweight debut ever since. As such, Rogan believes that 'Bones' will have quite a few questions to answer upon his return to the octagon. The UFC commentator said:

"Can Jon take him down? How does Jone perform at heavyweight? Can Jon close the distance? Is he as fast? What is the three years off like? Is he hungrier and even better because he’s fired up? It’s also his first fight at heavyweight."

Rogan added:

"We really don’t know how he’s going to respond when he gets hit by a big heavyweight. We don’t know anything. Jon is older now — a lot of partying. Jon parties... I don’t know.”
