“I just want more opportunities for fighters” - Joe Rogan hails the partnership between Prime Video and ONE
Joe Rogan hailed the work ONE Championship and Amazon Prime Video have been doing for the future of martial arts all over the world.
The promotion’s historic partnership with one of the biggest streaming broadcasters in the US, was like a match made in heaven. Their live events, which started with ONE on Prime Video 1: Moraes vs Johnson II, are unlike anything US fans have seen before.
The stacked fight card featured a variety of martial arts disciplines apart from MMA, including Muay Thai, kickboxing, and submission grappling at an elite-level.
Amazed by the progress both ONE and Amazon Prime have made in order to bring martial arts to the forefront, hasn’t been lost on Joe Rogan.
Sitting with Demetrious Johnson on his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan said:
“I love that they’re doing that, I just want more opportunities for fighters. I love the UFC, obviously, I’m not working anywhere else, but there’s only 500 fighters in the UFC. There’s thousands and thousands of elite fighters all over the world.”

Since ONE Championship launched their first Prime Video show last August, sports fans are becoming more and more familiar with the roster’s greatest stars, including MMA fighters Adriano Moraes and Demetrious Johnson, Muay Thai legend Nong-O Gaiyanghadao, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu grappler Mikey Musumeci.
The diversity of disciplines and talent in ONE Championship is off the charts. Moreover, with this new historic partnership with Amazon Prime, subscribers get the chance to see these real-life superheroes in action.
Joe Rogan spots key differences between striking in MMA vs. striking in Muay Thai
One of the best fight sequences Joe Rogan likes to circle back to is Demetrious Johson’s mixed-rules fight with Rodtang Jitmuangnon.
Rogan analyzed the differences between striking in MMA versus striking in Muay Thai when Johnson and Rodtang fought each other in alternate disciplines:
“What a wild contrast between the first and the second round. He’s [Rodtang] basically resigning himself to being defensive in this round. Look at how his hands are positioned, he’s just looking to just push you away... That was the beautiful thing about watching that fight, is seeing the difference between these elite strikers when they’re just allowed to strike and then seeing the difference between an elite MMA fighter, and how he knows he can’t implement his game plan the same way.”

As Demetrious Johnson said before, he would like to run it again with Rodtang, now that the Thai superstar is seeking to make the transition to MMA in the near future.
At the moment, Rodtang is busy preparing for his fourth world title defense in Muay Thai against reigning ONE strawweight Muay Thai world champion Joseph Lasiri. The highly anticipated event is scheduled to take place on Friday, November 18 on US primetime.
