Joe Rogan left astonished by Yoel Romero’s ripped physique: "It's nuts"
Joe Rogan was recently left astonished by Yoel Romero's ripped physique after coming across a video of the former UFC star sprinting. The 47-year-old has been known for his age-defying physique and incredible athleticism displayed throughout his career.
'The Soldier of God' has had a bounce back year after coming up short in his Bellator light heavyweight title opportunity against Vadim Nemkov last year. Since then, Romero earned a unanimous decision over Thiago Santos and most recently earned a first round knockout over Duane Crespo in a Dirty Boxing bout that was contested at heavyweight.
Instagram page The JRE Companion posted a clip on their page from episode #2239 of JRE, which shows the podcast host and longtime UFC commentator in awe of Romero's physique.
Rogan mentioned that Romero had his neck fused to explain why his head is so still and noted that he is a freak athlete:
"See if you could find the video of Yoel Romero sprinting, it's nuts. Like, look at him run. So, his neck doesn't move. His entire neck is completely fused and he has this giant scar on the back of his neck. He is a freak though, dude."

Why Yoel Romero requires neck fusion surgery as referenced by Joe Rogan?
Yoel Romero competing at a very high level well into his late 40's is truly remarkable considering he had neck fusion surgery as referenced by Joe Rogan, which could have possibly been career ending.
In addition to the aforementioned clip, The JRE Companion added a caption that detailed when 'The Soldier of God' underwent surgery and the reasoning for it.
Romero had issues stemming from his loss to Rafael Cavalcante in Strikeforce and underwent a risky neck fusion surgery before returning to action two years later in the UFC against his doctor's suggestion:
"[Romero] underwent surgery to fuse his cervical vertebrae, a procedure that carried substantial risks, including potential paralysis or death. Despite medical advice suggesting retirement, Romero's determination propelled him back into the sport. He resumed training and, in 2013, made a successful UFC debut, embarking on an 8-fight winning streak."
