Joe Rogan names the "scariest striker ever in MMA" and it's not Alex Pereira: "This dude was like a demon"

MMA has no shortage of scary knockout artists but Joe Rogan is convinced that a former Surinamese-Dutch kickboxer is the most intimidating striker to have ever graced the UFC octagon.

During episode #2164 of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, the veteran UFC sportscaster zealously claimed that none can rival former Bellator and Strikeforce contender Melvin Manhoef when it comes to aggression.

Reacting to a clip of Manhoef knockin out ex-UFC heavyweight contender Mark Hunt with a single punch, Rogan told his guest Action Bronson:

"You want to talk about the scariest striker ever in MMA? I think it's Melvin. He might not have been the best. He might not be the best technical, [Alex] Pereira is probably the most tactical, but Melvin was so terrifying. He would come at you guns blazing with them gladiator shorts on... Dropped Mark Hunt and put him out. I mean who the f**k does that?... Bro, he is so fast. Man, this dude was like a demon."

However, the MMA commentator added that the Dutch national's violent style also made him susceptible to getting knocked out.

Rogan's assessment holds merit. Of 'No Mercy's' 32 MMA victories, 29 have come via knockout. He holds notable wins against the likes of Kazushi Sakuraba and Dough Marshal. The 48-year-old has also been knocked out seven times during his career.

When Joe Rogan named flyweight star as one of his MMA GOATs

Joe Rogan has always been fascinated by specialists in MMA. So no wonder he is in absolute awe of former UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson.

Rogan believes 'Mighty Mouse' was one of the best ever to do it, in his prime. Engaging in an MMA GOAT discussion with David Goggins during episode #1906 of the JRE, the 56-year-old said:

"I've always said 'Mighty Mouse' is one of my best bets [when it comes to the greatest of all time discussion] because he was soo god damn good, and he is still so god damn good. Now he is fighting in One FC, but he was a flyweight champion for a long time and he was the highest level of expression of mixed martial arts ability that I've ever seen."

Johnson holds an evolving MMA record of 25-4-1 with wins against the likes of Henry Cejudo, Joseph Benavidez, and Adriano Moraes among others. His flying armbar finish over Ray Borg at UFC 216 was a spectacle unlike any.
