Joe Rogan and Russell Crowe talk about being starstruck, with Crowe sharing how he felt while meeting Daniel Day-Lewis
Joe Rogan recently spoke with iconic actor Russel Crowe on his podcast, Joe Rogan Experience. This was an exciting meeting, as Rogan and Crowe had never spoken at length until today.
Early in the conversation, Rogan admitted to the magnitude of their meeting, noting how strange it feels to meet someone you've watched in the movies for years. Crowe echoed this feeling, remembering how he felt when he met someone of the exact nature.
Rogan said:
"It's always so odd when you've seen someone in so many movies and you meet them in real life. You're like, 'hey... real person', you know? It's strange, isn't it? (laughs)."
Crowe then said:
"You know I do have that same thing myself, you know, when I meet somebody that, like, his work I dig or whatever, you know. I'm still the same fan as I was, you know, before I even got into the business, you know. I met Daniel Day-Lewis in a Motel 8 in Conestoga, New York State..."
He added:
"It was just unexpected and you know, it was a cool thing. Such a nice fellow, too."
Here's a clip of the conversation:
Joe Rogan and Russell Crowe talk more about Daniel Day-Lewis
Russell Crowe is a three-time Academy Award nominee, having won the award in 2001 for his role in Gladiator. He's considered one of the greatest and most influential actors of this or any generation. That he was star-struck upon meeting Daniel Day-Lewis speaks volumes about Day-Lewis.
Day-Lewis is a legend amongst legends. A consummate method actor, the Englishman has won the Oscar Best Actor Award three times and starred as what Joe Rogan calls the "most believable professional boxer in a film" in 1997's The Boxer.
On Day-Lewis, Rogan said (via Joe Rogan Experience)
"Daniel Day-Lewis is a real legend coz he's one of those guys who just, like, disappears for a couple of years and makes shoes. Just a real artist."
Crowe then added:
"Then suddenly comes back with a vengeance and a fury and 'Oh my god, look at that'"
Having Daniel Day-Lewis appear on the Joe Rogan Experience would be a treat.
