Joe Rogan says he was blown away by Cedric Doumbe's rigorous workout and cardio: "I was like damn!"

Joe Rogan is a huge admirer of Cedric Doumbe's cardio-intensive training routine. A rare combination of cardio and devastating power, Doumbe was a long-reigning Glory Kickboxing welterweight champion who transitioned to MMA in 2021. He has dominated the competition so far and is considered one of the best MMA fighters competing outside the UFC.

On a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Rogan discussed Doumbe's workout routine with his guest Francis Ngannou. According to the UFC color commentator, Doumbe trained in his Los Angeles gym when he visited to record a podcast episode.

Rogan was blown away by the intensity of the 31-year-old's workout session and said:

"Man, his workout sessions are crazy. So cardio intensive... They're doing sprints on the treadmill, they run to the heavy bag, sprints on the heavy bag, run back to the treadmill... I was like, 'Damn!' Watching that was, like, 'No wonder this guy has a crazy gas tank.'"

He added:

"He's not doing just mitt work. I've seen other guys do mitt work. They do their stuff. But [Doumbe's] stuff is like, cardio-intensive, man. He wants to have a full gas tank when he gets in there."

Joe Rogan discusses Cedric Doumbe's title reign in Glory Kickboxing

Cedric Doumbe held the Glory Kickboxing welterweight title twice in his kickboxing career and secured five total title defenses. Four of his seven title fight wins came by T/KO. The 31-year-old has retained the finishing ability after transitioning to MMA as well. All six of Doumbe's professional MMA victories came by T/KO.

While discussing Dooumbe's competitive abilities with Francis Ngannou in the same episode of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Rogan said:

"He was just knocking everybody out. Not just knocking everybody out but the way he did it, he melted guys. He put pressure on them. Knockout power but intelligence. Great technique but the cardio was crazy. I remember thinking that this dude doesn't get tired." [37:38]

Cedric Doumbe signed a two-year contract with MMA promotion PFL. He made his promotional debut with a TKO win over Jordan Zebo in September 2023. After his second fight resulted in a controversial TKO loss due to injury, Doumbe bounced back with a win over Jaleel Willis in May.

While his return date is not confirmed, Ngannou said that he might compete in October on a fight card headlined by 'The Predator'.
