Joe Rogan slams Hollywood for "blackball" attempts as JRE guest says he almost got canceled for controversial movie

Joe Rogan and actor Dennis Quaid recently lamented the current state of Hollywood, claiming that the industry tries to ban individuals who don't conform to certain ideologies.

Speaking to Quaid during episode #2189 of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Rogan claimed that many in the industry refrain from speaking their minds since it could be counterproductive for their career:

"You know, one of the things that, I said that drove me crazy about Hollywood was there was people that had differing opinions about things, but they would never speak out because it could damage their career and it really can. They will f*****g blackball you."

The Hollywood star agreed with the UFC sportscaster, stating that there were attempts to cancel him for portraying former president Ronald Reagan in the movie 'Reagan':

"They will, there were a couple of attempts to cancel me while we were making Reagan. Kind of half-hearted, I guess, but it has become that you know, and that ain't right."

During a recent interview with Newsweek, the actor also took aim at the social media platform Facebook for limiting the advertisements for 'Reagan' on the website.

Frustrated by Facebook's efforts at curtailing his film's promotion, the 70-year-old claimed that America was turning into the old Soviet Union where flow of information was heavily policed.

Rogan is also no stranger to cancel culture. During the early 2020s, there were multiple attempts at canceling his podcast. The sports commentator faced severe backlash after he seemingly tried to dissuade young, healthy individuals from taking the COVID-19 vaccines.

Pressure to cancel the 57-year-old on Spotify also intensified after a video compilation of him using the N-word was shared by singer India.Arie on social media.
