Joe Rogan talks about the "absurd" social media policies of Canadian Universities
Joe Rogan is known to discuss a wide variety of topics on his immensely popular podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience (JRE).
Following Jordan Peterson's revelation that the Ontario College of Psychologists threatened to remove his license if he didn't attend social media retraining courses, the UFC commentator shared his thoughts on how universities handle social media.
Speaking to guest Bret Weinstein on episode #1919, Rogan stated:
"I remember the early days when this was happening, when I would do podcasts about it, and I think this was back when I was still reading comments, and one of the comments was, 'why would you care about what's happening in these universities? Like this has literally no bearing on you.' My thought was I don't think that's true because the people from universities are eventually going to go into the workplace."
Rogan went on to discuss the backlash Jordan Peterson has faced, adding:
"He's getting in trouble for retweeting some person who was critical of Justin Trudeau. Whatever board of psychologists that they have in Ontario is bringing him in for disciplinary discussions. They want him to be involved in some sort of a class... The term re-training is so crazy that he is going to have to participate in mandatory social media communication re-training... You have to be a different person."
Rogan added that the threat to remove Peterson's license is empty as he is no longer seeing clients as a psychologist. While his employers may disagree with his ideology, there should not be backlash if it has not interfered with his work.

Joe Rogan shares his thoughts on media censorship
Joe Rogan has previously used his podcast as a platform to discuss censorship. Speaking to guest Steve Rinella on episode #1912 of JRE, the UFC commentator stated:
"This is what people don't understand when they try to impose censorship. It goes all the way through. You will eventually get to a point where it's only state sanctioned information that's allowed to be distributed if you allow censorship... The truth dies with censorship."
Rogan pointed out that attempting to influence public discourse can have negative effects on society. The influential podcast host believes that the government and media should not attempt to sway the public in one direction or another.
