Johan Ghazali dialed up for career-best display at ONE 168: "Ready to perform on the biggest stage"

Malaysian-American teenage phenom Johan Ghazali wants to impress every time he steps inside the ONE Championship Circle, and it will be no different when he returns at ONE 168: Denver on September 6.

The Rentap Muay Thai Gym upstart is locked in for a flyweight Muay Thai tussle alongside Josue Cruz when the promotion heads to Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado, for its second on-ground showcase in North America.

Having received the opportunity to compete on one of the biggest fight cards of the year, the 17-year-old doesn't want to disappoint. With that in mind, he's ready to make headway to move closer to the upper echelons of the talent-jammed weight bracket.

Speaking to ONE Championship, Johan Ghazali said:

"Man, to be honest, you know, I've always wanted to fight on the card. So to get this chance, it's an unbelievable feeling. I'm ready to perform on the biggest stage as always."

He has done just that throughout his campaign in the world's largest martial arts organization.

The Sarawak-based fighter kicked things off with a blistering 16-second finish of Padetsuk Fairtex at ONE Friday Fights 6. Proving that highlight-reel stoppage was no fluke, 'Jojo' racked up another three knockouts from four victories, including a 36-second destruction of Edgar Tabares in his American primetime debut at ONE Fight Night 17.

Johan Ghazali fired up to return to winning ways

Johan Ghazali heads into The Mile High City off a unanimous decision loss to Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat.

But with knockout power just a fingertip away, the young phenom is confident he should have it in him to bounce back with a victory come September 6.

In the same interview with the promotion, the flyweight Muay Thai star vows to pack his usual firepower alongside some new tricks. He said:

"Training has been going great, you know, as always. My coach and I have been working on the usual things. But, of course, there's always going to be that element of surprise when I fight. So fans can expect that."
