Jon Anik unveils secret behind Diego Lopes' strange unexplained movement that caught the commentator's eye during Noche UFC
Jon Anik recently revealed the explanation behind Diego Lopes' puzzling actions that captured attention during Noche UFC 306. Lopes extended his win streak to five straight with a dominant unanimous decision victory over former title challenger Brian Ortega last weekend at the Sphere in Las Vegas.
The Mexico-based Brazilian prospect disrupted Ortega’s game from the outset, nearly finishing him in the opening round. From then on, Lopes took control, landing powerful strikes to keep 'T-City' at bay, ultimately securing a crucial win.
During Noche UFC 306, many fans noticed Lopes repeatedly touching his neck in a peculiar manner, an action veteran commentator Anik pointed out from the commentary booth. A curious fan recently took to X, asking the UFC play-by-play commentator if he knew the reason behind Lopes' unusual tic.
Anik answered:
"From @TeamIridiumISA ’s Jason House: Diego has a scar on his neck that itches when he sweats; that's why he always rubs his neck. When he was a kid, he got into an accident, and one of those steel poles used to build houses sliced his neck and left a bad scar."

In a backstage interview with Megan Olivi at Noche UFC 306, Lopes explained that, due to the accident, he has a habit of rubbing his neck when he sweats or gets nervous but reassured that it’s nothing serious.

Diego Lopes mocks Movsar Evloev's attempt for a short-notice rematch
After Aljamain Sterling recently withdrew from his featherweight bout against Movsar Evloev at UFC 307 due to an elbow injury, the undefeated Russian made it clear he still wanted to compete on the card. In an effort to secure a new fight, Evloev called out his former opponent, Diego Lopes, for a short-notice rematch on X.
The callout quickly sparked a back-and-forth exchange on social media, with Lopes rejecting the idea and pointing out that he had previously sought a fight with Evloev multiple times, only to be turned down.
In one of his posts, Lopes pointed to Evloev's lack of activity in the octagon, noting that he's now ranked higher in the 145-pound division, making a rematch pointless in his eyes. He wrote:
"Brother, since my first victory in the UFC, I called you to fight. You could make excuses, that you were above me in the rankings. Since our fight, I have five victories. While you have only fought once. You were lower in the rankings. Not to mention that you have not finished anyone."
