Jon Jones believes that he can turn down Tom Aspinall fight without affecting his legacy: "I’m not defined by one fight"
Jon Jones recently weighed in on his legacy in MMA and clapped back at critics who claim it would be affected if he doesn't fight Tom Aspinall. Fans have expressed interest in seeing a heavyweight title unification bout, however, 'Bones' remains committed to a bout against Stipe Miocic instead.
Aspinall has surged in popularity and is considered by many to be the biggest threat to 'Bones' in the heavyweight division. The Englishman has made it clear that he wants to fight Jones and has blasted the reigning heavyweight champion for avoiding him since his interim title win.
Despite the Englishman's best efforts, 'Bones' doesn't believe as though his legacy will be tarnished if they don't meet in the octagon. Championship Rounds posted a screenshot of Jones' tweets to their Instagram account in which the reigning heavyweight champion mentioned that a bout against Aspinall isn't too important and took a jibe at the heavyweight division. He wrote:
"The beautiful thing about being [in] my position is, I'm not defined by one fight. Most of you grew up watching me win...Haha man, you guys have been really begging me lately. Is the heavyweight division really that boring without me?"

Jon Jones clarifies video of him expressing interest in fighting Francis Ngannou
In addition to clapping back at recent criticism, Jon Jones went off in a series of tweets that included him clarifying that the video that circulated on social media of him expressing interest in fighting Francis Ngannou was old.
Jones took to his X account and mentioned that the video was recorded before the injury that forced him to withdraw from UFC 295 and Tom Aspinall to become the newly crowned interim heavyweight champion. He said:
"I guess there was a video that resurfaced recently of me saying that after Stipe [Miocic], Francis [Ngannou] was the only fight I was interested in. The video was recorded well over a year ago...before I got injured, before there was an interim champion crowned. I had already voiced that I wasn't interested in any more randoms. Now magically I'm ducking a fight that's never been negotiated or discussed at any table that matters."
