"Jon Jones has "best resume in MMA," claims UFC lightweight contender
UFC lightweight fighter Terrance McKinney has hailed Jon Jones' resume as the best in MMA. 'T.Wrecks' recently posted a partial screenshot of Jones' record on Twitter, claiming to have settled the debate for the "best resume in MMA." The 28-year-old wrote:
"Jon Jones has the best resume in MMA no further questions"
Widely considered the MMA G.O.A.T, Jones holds the UFC record for most title defenses with 13. The screenshot posted by McKinney shows Jones' first nine title wins, up until his first win over Daniel Cormier in 2015.
While his record has been clean up to that point, Jones got embroiled in several controversies over the next two years and got stripped of his title thrice due to disciplinary action.
'Bones' was first stripped of his title in 2015 and was removed from the UFC rankings after getting arrested on hit-and-run charges. He mounted back-to-back wins over Ovince St. Preux and Daniel Cormier in his return to the octagon the following year, which were discounted due to 'Bones' failing drug tests and getting suspended again.
Jones returned to the octagon in 2018, reclaiming his title against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 232. The former heavyweight champion went on to mount three more title defenses, looking beatable in all three, before parting ways with the UFC over a pay dispute in 2020.
Georges St-Pierre believes Jon Jones will be successful at heavyweight
After teasing a move up to heavyweight for around a year and a half, Jon Jones is now seemingly ready and eager to get back to the octagon. As per Nolan King of MMA Junkie, the UFC is targeting Jones' return to the octagon against heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou in March 2023.
Former welterweight king Georges St-Pierre, who is also widely mentioned in G.O.A.T. conversations, is eager to see Jones back in action. 'GSP' is also confident about 'Bones' being successful on his return despite the long hiatus. The UFC Hall of Famer recently told MMA Junkie:
"I’ve seen it on the red carpet when I got inducted into the [UFC] Hall of Fame. I took a picture and I put my arm around him, I was like, ‘Man, he’s solid like a rock.’ He’s huge. Jones, he’s solid like a rock, he looked huge... A lot of people are like, ‘Yeah, he was out for a long time.’ He was out for a long time, but he’s Jon Jones, you know what I mean? Don’t forget that he’s Jon Jones. He’s arguably the best fighter of all-time too. He can make a comeback and I think he’s going to be successful when he does.”
