Jon Jones details horrific bobcat scare at Albuquerque home weeks before UFC 285 headliner
Jon Jones, the former UFC light-heavyweight champion, recently shared a scary incident involving his nine-year-old daughter, Olivia. According to Jones, Olivia had an encounter with a bobcat, but fortunately, the animal did not attack her, and she is safe.
The incident took place at his family's residence in Albuquerque, New Mexico, during a winter snowstorm on Tuesday night.
According to Jon Jones, one of the doors to his guest house was left slightly open, which provided an opportunity for a wild bobcat to make its way inside and take shelter from the cold. Unfortunately, his daughter stumbled upon the agitated animal, and the two came face-to-face.
The former LHW champion tweeted this information and wrote:
"We had a crazy snowstorm in Albuquerque last night, I guess one of us forgot to close our guest house door all the way. This morning my little nine-year-old Olivia walked out there alone to grab a pair of sneakers she had left.
He further gave details into the matter and stated:
"After completely walking into the room she was met with an aggressive hissing sound, she jumped on a countertop and a bobcat sprung out from underneath the bed, it stared at her, pounds in her direction and then decided to run the opposite way.
Thankfully, despite the potentially dangerous encounter, his daughter managed to avoid any harm. The situation could have been much worse, but Jones and his family are likely grateful that the incident did not result in any injuries
"I’m so incredibly grateful this morning, that could’ve turned out so many different ways. Been thanking God all morning."
Two titans tango: Jon Jones and fellow UFC heavyweight bust a move
Jon Jones is set to make his much-anticipated heavyweight debut against Ciryl Gane at UFC 285 next month, and he appears to be relishing the preparation.
A recent video shared on social media revealed Jones and fellow UFC heavyweight Walt Harris having some fun in the gym as they dance to some music. The clip starts with Harris displaying some of his moves, after which Jones joins in, showing off his rhythm and footwork.
The video showcases the lighter side of Jones, indicating that he is having a good time leading up to his high-profile fight. The UFC community is eagerly awaiting Jones' move to heavyweight, and the video is generating some buzz among fans, adding to the excitement of the upcoming fight.
After leaving the light heavyweight division three years ago, Jon Jones is now close to making his long-awaited debut in the heavyweight category. He was initially scheduled to face Francis Ngannou in his comeback fight, but the Cameroonian fighter's unexpected departure from the UFC put a halt to that plan. Instead, Jones will face Ciryl Gane, who is considered one of the most promising heavyweights in the sport, for the vacant title. Despite the change in opponents, Jones seems to be focused on making a successful debut in his new division and is gearing up for what could be an exciting battle.
