Jon Jones discloses he received counseling and took other steps to redeem himself from the "dumb things" he has done

Jon Jones is no stranger to getting into trouble with the law, and throughout his gold-laden career, fans have been reminded of his dark side on multiple occasions. Ahead of his long-awaited heavyweight debut against Ciryl Gane at UFC 285, 'Bones' opened up on his measures to redeem his regrettable actions.

Jones has had several run-ins with the law over the course of his career. The former light heavyweight champion has been arrested five times since 2012 for various violations, including drunk driving, a hit-and-run, domestic violence, battery assault, and negligent firearm use.

The 35-year-old American has also failed multiple drug tests and has served suspensions for using performance-enhancing drugs. In a recent interview with BT Sport, Jones expressed regret over his past actions and discussed his steps towards moving on:

"Everyone knows I've had a lot of ups and downs in my career. I've learned to forgive myself for some of the dumb things that I've done and received a lot of counseling and a lot of prayers. A lot of meditation and self-reflection... I've come to terms that all of us humans, we do dumb sh*t."

Francis Ngannou weighs in on Jon Jones vs. Ciryl Gane

Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane will go head-to-head at UFC 285 this weekend. While 'Bones' was initially expected to make his long-awaited return against Francis Ngannou, 'The Predator' shockingly left the promotion due to unfavorable contract renewal terms.

Ngannou recently shared his prediction for the headliner of the upcoming pay-per-view. In an interview with The Schmo, the former heavyweight champion stated that the outcome of the fight depends on Jones' approach:

"It depends which Jon Jones is going to be there. If Jones shows up, this fight can be a TKO. I think he's gonna take [Gane] down, wrestle and some ground and pound. But it can go the distance if Jon Jones fights defensively. Because then both of them will be defensive fighters. Then it can go the distance."
