"Jon Jones has got a dark side" - Dana White sees no chance for Alex Pereira in possible 'Bones' fight, says Joe Rogan is pushing for it
Dana White recently discussed a potential Jon Jones vs. Alex Pereira fight and made it clear that he doesn't see the Brazilian raising his hand against the reigning UFC heavyweight champion. Intriguingly, White also mentioned that Joe Rogan was pushing him to book the matchup, and it remains a possibility.
After Pereira's second win over Jiri Prochazka at UFC 303 last month, many began wondering about a heavyweight move to potentially become a three-time UFC champion for the reigning light heavyweight king. Pereira has expressed an interest in such an endeavor, and Jones has flirted with the idea of facing 'Poatan' in the cage. However, the UFC hasn't shown much interest in booking the fight.
During a recent appearance on The Big Podcast with Shaq, the UFC CEO addressed the possibility of a Jones-Pereira fight and said:
"It's a possibility. I mean, Rogan is pushing me right now to try to make that fight. It's just, guys, let me explain something to you... I consider Jon Jones the greatest combat fighter of all time. Jon Jones is the nastiest dude ever in history. Jon's got a dark side to him, man... Jon Jones is a killer."
Dustin Poirier explains why Jon Jones must be the one to welcome Alex Pereira to heavyweight
Dustin Poirier recently opened up about a potential heavyweight move for Alex Pereira and explained why Jon Jones must be the Brazilian's first opponent in the heavier division.
As mentioned, the UFC and Dana White aren't too keen on a Jones-Pereira heavyweight title fight despite high-profile entities like Joe Rogan pushing for it. During a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, 'The Diamond' was asked if Pereira stood a chance against Jones. He replied:
"I don't know, Jones has never been knocked out... [When asked about a potential Jones vs. Tom Aspinall fight] I don't want to see that, though... Aspinall's legit. He's interim world champion, he's beat some good guys but he doesn't have the aura that Alex and Jones have."
When asked if Pereira should face Jones next instead of Stipe Miocic, Poirier said:
"I would. Yeah. It's bigger. It's a blockbuster fight, bro... The UFC's done some crazy stuff."
