Few athletes are unanimously regarded as the greatest in their fields, but Phelps and Jones certainly belong to that minority.

Jon Jones lashes at Tom Aspinall over dodging allegations

Jon Jones, the reigning UFC heavyweight champion, has faced widespread criticism in the MMA community after he chose to defend his title against Stipe Miocic rather than unify the belts and take on interim champion Tom Aspinall. Furthermore, Jones has refused to acknowledge Aspinall as the legitimate contender, instead focusing on the 42-year-old Miocic, who is coming off a knockout loss to Francis Ngannou in March 2021.

Despite winning the interim belt, the Englishman's pursuit of the Jones fight has, so far, been fruitless. Recently, Aspinall linked up with Sport Bible to do some social media content.

In one such clip, the 31-year-old claimed the reigning champion is dodging a fight with him. He said:

"That would have to be Jon Jones. We know he's trying to fight old man Stipe... He's the fight dodger round here."

Irked by the allegations, 'Bones' took to the comments section and blasted Aspinall. In a now-deleted comment, the champion wrote:

"This dude literally has my large black c**k in his mouth every week. I'm flattered. I absolutely guarantee he will not win more world championships than me. That's truly all that matters at the end of the day. There's been many champions, no one like me. I sleep good at night."

Refusing to back down, the Englishman brought up Jones' controversial past, saying:

"Jon's right, he's won so many more world championships than me... While using PEDs."

Dana White has confirmed that Aspinall will fight the winner of the Jones-Miocic bout for the undisputed belt. That being said, no official announcement has been made regarding the Jones-Miocic bout, so it's unclear when exactly that fight will go down.
