Jon Jones posts moving tribute after his pet dog BJ passes away

Jon Jones recently posted an emotional tribute on his Instagram stories to mourn the passing of his dog, BJ.

Jones posted a throwback picture of BJ as a puppy at just 12 weeks old, followed by a picture of his canine friend in his twilight years with a caption that read:

"Rest easy BJ, thank you for all those amazing years."

The former light heavyweight champion is quite fond of animals, especially his dogs, and loves to show them off on social media.

BJ was a German Shephard Rottweiler, who was trained to show off some impressive tricks. Jones even posted this video of BJ in the dog park with the caption calling BJ, "My son."

Jones also owns another German Shephard named Dutch. Both dogs seem to have been extensively trained and well disciplined, judging by the former UFC champ's social media posts.

He actively posts videos and photos of his dogs in training, tactical gear and dog-handling.

Dana White hopes Jon Jones will face Francis Ngannou in 2023

Dana White has confirmed that Jon Jones will not be facing Stipe Miocic at UFC 282 this year, but instead hopes to see the former light heavyweight champion fight Francis Ngannou for the heavyweight title.

After beating Dominick Reyes at UFC 247 via unanimous decision, Jones has been away from the octagon since February 2020.

'Bones' has teased his return for a long time, and seemed keen to face Stipe Miocic in December at UFC 282. He even called out Miocic on social media several times.

I’m preparing to fight Stipe December 10 in Las Vegas. Not really sure what’s going on between Stipe and the UFC but I’m ready to compete! I’m going to control what I can and stay in shape. twitter.com/ColeDillon1874…

However, with Francis Ngannou's contract situation still unresolved, it certainly puts Jones' return to the UFC octagon in uncertain waters.

Ngannou hasn't fought since January 2022 after defeating Ciryl Gane via unanimous decision. It's no secret that Ngannou is unhappy with his current UFC contract. It remains to be seen if Jones does get his shot at the heavyweight title after his prolonged absence from active participation.

With so much time away from the octagon, it would be a remarkable return should 'Bones' fight for either an interim or undisputed UFC title in 2023.
