Jon Jones refused to avenge his sole MMA loss in a rematch, claims the man who beat him: "He was out of PEDs"
A former UFC fighter recently took a jab at Jon Jones. The individual, who beat Jones, stated that 'Bones' allegedly refused a rematch since he was off PEDs.
The fighter in question is Matt Hamill, who handed Jones the only loss in his professional MMA career. For context, in his fourth UFC bout, while performing a flurry of ground-and-pound attacks, 'Bones' landed a couple of elbows that appeared to breach the 12-6 rule, which was deemed foul at the time.
The illegal elbow strikes caused the referee to halt the bout, but Jones was given a DQ loss because Hamill was unable to continue.
In a recent MMA Knockout Facebook post, Hamill made fun of Jones by pointing out his lone MMA defeat in response to a fan's comment. He wrote:
''No worries, He lost to me. He refused to have a rematch. I guess he was out of PEDs. That's a bummer." [H/T: MMA Knockout]
Before this, Hamill sent a message to UFC CEO Dana White in response to Jones' request to reverse his DQ loss after the 12-6 elbow strike ban was lifted in July. 'The Hammer' expressed his desire to rematch with the reigning champion for the UFC heavyweight title, writing:
"Let’s cut this chase… @danawhite - I know you’re desperate to get @jonnybones an undefeated record. I see how you want to profit from that! It's also why you bail him out of all the other things… How about a rematch?! I’ll be happy to fight him for a heavyweight title. If I beat him, I want a UFC belt. Let me know if Stipe Miocic backs out. I’ll take short notice, just remember he already lost to me!"
Jon Jones responds to previous PED accusations made against him
Jon Jones recently claimed that he shouldn't be criticized for past drug offenses due to the UFC's amended rules on fighter suspensions based on picogram quantities.
One of Jones' tests indicated 33 picograms of turinabol in his system, which is below the permitted limit under the UFC's updated rule set. The reigning champion responded to a fan's criticism of his use of performance-enhancing drugs by writing:
''Yep, worked my a** to prove my innocence. Now picograms are legal in our sport. Honestly, none of that will matter a few years from now when I'm covering my kids' tuition. You guys still laughing about what happened at the office, I'm outside on a golf cart."
