Jon Jones responds after fan asks him to land "12-6 elbows" on Stipe Miocic

Jon Jones has been training to utilize the now-legal 12-6 elbow.

Earlier this week, the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports officially activated two new rules for MMA. The most talked-about change was the legalization of 12-6 elbows, a technique that has been controversial for years.

In December 2009, Jones suffered his lone professional MMA loss due to a disqualification, as he landed a 12-6 elbow against Matt Hamill. Since then, Dana White has attempted to have the result changed to remove the only thing preventing 'Bones' from having an undefeated record.

On Nov. 16, Jones will fight for the first time since the 12-6 elbow was legalized. Heading into his title defense against Stipe Miocic, the 37-year-old posted several videos of him on Instagram lifting weights and added this caption:

"240 pounds, fast and strong. I used to walk around at 235lbs as a light heavyweight. This almost feels like a light heavyweight fight without the weight cut. @mr_nfp @jjstanbro"

One fan took to the comments section and mentioned the 12-6 elbow rule change:

"Land those 12-6 elbows on stipe"

Jones responded to the fan by saying:

"I’ve definitely been training them, let’s see what comes out"

Jon Jones thanks Joe Rogan and Donald Trump for mentioning him on podcast

In late October, Joe Rogan released an episode of his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, featuring former U.S. President and current candidate Donald Trump.

During the conversation, Rogan and Trump had several conversations about MMA, including how Jon Jones is one of the greatest fighters of all time.

Jones reacted to the praise from Rogan on Instagram, while also revealing he voted in the U.S. election for the first time:

"Just voted for the first time, and I’m feeling like a proud American! The registration process was super easy, and I can’t stress enough how worth it this feels. Huge thanks to Joe Rogan and @realdonaldtrump for mentioning me in your last podcast."

Jones concluded by saying:

"Honored to be considered one of the best fighters on the planet among such fierce competition. To all my fellow Americans, especially the young ones: get out there and vote! It’s your voice, your power—let’s use it!"

At UFC 309, Jon Jones looks to extend his legacy by defending his heavyweight title for the first time. Meanwhile, Stipe Miocic plans to prove the doubters wrong by potentially pulling off a massive upset inside Madison Square Garden.
