Jonathan Haggerty addresses Nico Carrillo situation: “Nico is definitely next in line”

Jonathan Haggerty is not looking past Superlek Kiatmoo9 ahead of his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title defense at ONE 168: Denver this Friday, September 6, but he also has a plan for his future.

As the two-sport ONE world champion, Haggerty has his hands full with many challengers from either the Muay Thai, and kickboxing divisions, but he's eyeing on one name in particular: Nico Carrillo.

The rising contender has been calling out Haggerty for quite some time, and the British superstar plans to answer that callout with a fight.

In ONE 168 press conference ahead of his main event tilt against Superlek Kiatmoo9 inside the Centennial State's Ball Arena, Haggerty said:

"Yeah, Nico is definitely next in line."

However, his plans have gone beyond that single callout, as he explained with the following:

"And who knows, hopefully, the MMA debut is soon, which I’m really looking forward to."

As exciting as it is to wait for Haggerty's move into mixed martial arts to challenge its ruler, Fabricio Andrade, he will have to pass the formidable Superlek to secure his position at the top of the striking world today.

Filipino star Lito Adiwang roots for Jonathan Haggerty to win at ONE 168: Denver

Lito Adiwang thinks that the two-sport ONE world champion Jonathan Haggerty will take the victory over fellow ONE kingpin Superlek Kiatmoo9 in their main event tilt at ONE 168: Denver.

Haggerty, who wants to prove himself as the better fighter, will put his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title on the line, and Superlek is aiming to claim the prestigious status as two-sport and two division world champion.

Speaking to Tempo recently, 'Thunder Kid' said:

"I feel that Haggerty got the advantage this time around even though in their first encounter Superlek won. I see that Haggerty has evolved and got sharper [since], so I give him the advantage in this fight."
