Jonathan Haggerty looks back on biggest mistake he made against Superlek
Reigning ONE bantamweight kickboxing world champion and former bantamweight Muay Thai king 'The General' Jonathan Haggerty of the United Kingdom says energy from the crowd in Denver motivated him to face his tormentor, despite a quick exit.
Haggerty stepped into the Circle in a highly anticipated rematch against Thai rival 'The Kicking Machine' Superlek Kiatmoo9 at ONE 168: Denver last September, but the 27-year-old suffered a 49-second knockout loss in what was a disappointing performance.
Speaking to Sky Sports MMA Club podcast in a recent guest appearance, Haggerty addressed where he believes he made a huge mistake in his rematch with Superlek.
'The General' said:
"Yeah, stepped in the cage, felt great. Felt the atmosphere in front of all them fans and all the people. I’ve been on the big stages, it’s what I love to do. It was amazing, I felt at home. When the bell went, and I just felt I was a little bit too eager."
Needless to say, Haggerty can't wait to return to action, and he is looking to defend his ONE bantamweight kickboxing gold next.
