Jonathan Haggerty says settling down in Denver early will allow him to be "one step ahead" of Superlek
Two-sport king Jonathan Haggerty knows he'll have all the required tools to even the series against Superlek Kiatmoo9 at ONE 168: Denver. However, with Colorado's unforgiving elevation thrown into the equation, he believes there is little to no room for error when he meets the Thai powerhouse inside Ball Arena on Sept. 6.
Ahead of his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title defense against 'The Kicking Machine,' the 28-year-old Londoner explained his decision to fly to the Mile High City almost a month before fight night.
Jonathan Haggerty told ONE Championship:
"I mean, it's an advantage, but mainly, it's great for the mind, you know? Just to know that you are ready and one step ahead."
Before the journey to the United States, the British striking dynamo set up camp in Lamai Muay Thai Camp in Koh Samui, Thailand.
Jonathan Haggerty – who also reigns as the ONE bantamweight kickboxing world champion – has seen all his fight camps there since his historic knockout win of Nong-O Hama at ONE Fight Night 9 in April 2023.
Anatoly Malykhin dissects Jonathan Haggerty-Superlek super fight in Denver
Three-division MMA world champion Anatoly Malykhin expects a high-octane brawl to go down when Jonathan Haggerty locks horns with Superlek Kiatmoo9 on the promotion's second on-ground spectacle in the United States.
Though he prefers to sit on the fence, 'Sladkiy' shared his thoughts on what could lead either man to victory in Denver, Colorado. He told ONE Championship:
"Haggerty is on a roll right now, but Superlek has been performing beautifully. I think the winner will be the one who is mentally better prepared because both of them have proven their skills in the ring."
North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription can catch the entire ONE 168: Denver card live and for free in U.S. primetime on Friday, Sept. 6. Meanwhile, tickets for the show are still available on Ticketmaster.
