Jorge Masvidal lashes out at Khamzat Chimaev for expecting title shot despite massive weight miss
Jorge Masvidal's return will come against Gilbert Burns at UFC 287 and the No.11-ranked welterweight recently took aim at Khamzat Chimaev for coming in several pounds overweight at UFC 279.
Speaking to Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, 'Gamebred' stated:
"You miss weight by 8.5 pounds, get the f**k out of here. You're still talking about nobody wants to fight you, go f**king make weight before you talk about fighting. That's the first thing. Don't do steroids and make the f**king weight that you agreed upon as a f**king man. You're going to miss by eight pounds and think it's all cool and be calling people out? Get the f**k out."
Jorge Masvidal continued:
"I saw him do a comment that he was calling out [middleweight champion Alex] Pereira, like who the f**k are you? This is the world champion and you don't even have a f**king win over a top-15 guy. Get the f**k out of here at 185. Go f**king be like the rest of us, put your hard hat on, put your mouthpiece on, and get to work... You can't miss weight by 8.5 pounds and call for title shots... Go fight and then talk."

Masvidal claimed that he will bury Gilbert Burns, who Khamzat Chimaev struggled against before pulling away at UFC 273. While 'Borz' has not fought since his weight miss debacle last September, he has called out several high-profile fighters in both the welterweight and middleweight divisions.
Jorge Masvidal's return: 'Gamebred' discusses "three-piece and a soda" incident
Jorge Masvidal is hoping to fight for the welterweight title with a victory over Gilbert Burns at UFC 287. 'Gamebred' has a history with welterweight champion Leon Edwards that dates back to the infamous "three-piece and a soda" incident at UFC Fight Night 147 in 2019. The No.11-ranked welterweight recently opened up on the altercation that ensued, placing the blame on 'Rocky':
"Whatever happened, happened afterwards, but you started that whole s**t. If you would've just walked by my interview and not cut me off and not told me to shut up and not put your hands up, I probably wouldn't have had to serve you up. Since you got stupid and you acted like you're some f**king delinquent from the hood, I got to treat you like you are."

Masvidal added that he has no hatred towards Edwards, however, he believes the welterweight champion does not feel the same way. He shared that he believes that when 'Rocky' gets older, he will realize that he was at fault for how he handled the situation.
The No.4-ranked pound-for-pound fighter has shared that he is open to facing 'Gamebred' for the welterweight title if he is able to get past his UFC 287 opponent. He has also hinted that he may be in the crowd for the bout.
