"Just excited to put my hands on him" - Aung La N Sang eager to throw down vs 'very tough' Shamil Erdogan
Former two-division MMA king Aung La N Sang is excited to face off against a very game contender in Shamil Erdogan at ONE 168: Denver on September 6.
The 39-year-old Kill Cliff FC representative locks horns with the undefeated Turkish phenom on the promotion's return to North America inside the Ball Arena in Denver, and he sees this as yet another opportunity to climb his way back into the world title picture.
Speaking to The AllStar recently, Aung La N Sang said:
"I'm ready, man. I'm just excited to put my hands on him."
The 39-year-old is, after all, riding on a healthy streak of wins after dropping his middleweight and light heavyweight crown to Reinier de Ridder in back-to-back matches almost three years ago.
He bounced back with a first-round knockout against Brazilian knockout machine Leandro Ataides at ONE: Battleground.
Though he dropped a unanimous decision to Vitaly Bigdash months later, the ONE mainstay has been on a roll of three successive finishes against Yushin Okami, Gilberto Galvao, and Fan Rong since.
Aung La N Sang expects to have his hands full against Shamil Erdogan
As excited as he is to extend his winning streak to four, the Burmese sporting icon knows he'd have his hands versus the Kremost Fight Club warrior, who'd be ready to let his weapons lose on the grandest stage of combat sports.
In the same interview with The AllStar, he added:
"He's a very tough opponent, you know. He's a very high-level wrestling guy, a great mixed martial artist."
