Demetrious Johnson says game plan against Adriano Moraes won’t change
At ONE on Prime Video 10, Demetrious Johnson will defend his ONE flyweight world title against Adriano Moraes in their third fight. Their rubber match was recently announced for May 5 and will headline the promotion’s first ever event on US soil.
The two elite flyweights have produced two incredible and unforgettable fights in their previous clashes. Adriano Moraes took the first encounter, defending his title with a devastating knee that made him the first man to stop ‘Mighty Mouse’.
Not to be outdone, Demetrious Johnson got his revenge over the Brazilian in their rematch at ONE on Prime Video 1, producing his own highlight reel knee finish to tie their rivalry up with a win each.
In one of the most anticipated world title fights of 2023, their score will be settled when Johnson and Moraes meet for what will likely be the final time, a truly unmissable fight in every single way.
Ahead of this huge contest for both men, Demetrious Johnson shared some insight into how he will be approaching May 5 in an interview with ONE Championship:
“Just go out there and fight. That’s my game plan. Go out there and get on his ass like last time.”
Demetrious Johnson plans early trip to Colorado to acclimate to high altitude
ONE flyweight world world champion Demetrious Johnson will return to the circle for the first time in 2023 with the first defense of his recently earned world title. At ONE on Prime Video 10, ‘Mighty Mouse’ will face Adriano Moraes for a third time as they look to close out their trilogy.
Whilst the fight itself doesn’t need any additional narratives to get people excited for it, Johnson vs Moraes 3 will serve as the main event for a history-making event. ONE on Prime Video 10, scheduled for May 5, will be ONE Championship’s first event in the United States.
Broomfield, Colorado will host the promotion for what is sure to be a blockbuster event.
In a recent interview with ONE Championship, Demetrious Johnson spoke about acclimatizing to the high altitude that comes with fighting in Colorado:
“I just have to decide if I want to get there early or not. I fought in Broomfield, Colorado, before when I was still kind of young in my career.”
He added:
“I’m going back out to Arizona to get ready for my fight and do my pre-camp with Henry [Cejudo]. After that, I’m going to sit down with the wife and do two weeks out there and see if it makes a difference.”
