Kamaru Usman appears to still be nursing hand injury while addressing the crowd after Face Off Fight Night 3
Kamaru Usman underwent surgery on his hand earlier this year in February. He broke his hand three weeks before his fight against Colby Covington at UFC 268 but did not pull out of the fight. Three months after his fight, he underwent surgery to fix a ligament injury in his hand. After recovering from surgery, he fought Leon Edwards for the second time in August this year.
Kamaru Usman ended up losing his title to the Brit and there were rumors that 'The Nigerian Nightmare' underwent surgery again on the same hand. Usman recently held the third edition of the FaceOff Fightnight series in Lagos on Thursday evening.
Following the event, the former UFC champion addressed the crowd and fans spotted him seemingly wearing a cast on his right hand.

He was wearing a cast on his right hand, the same hand he got operated on. As Kamaru Usman looks to fight for his title again, there were rumors of a potential hand surgery or injury that the Nigerian fighter was suffering from that put his trilogy against Edwards at risk. Fans seem to think the rumors are true after seeing 'The Nigerian Nightmare' in the cast.
Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson's predicted Kamaru Usman vs. Leon Edwards may get postponed
Earlier this month, Stephen Thompson created a lot of noise on social media. 'Wonderboy' revealed that Kamaru Usman vs. Leon Edwards' trilogy fight may not happen anytime soon and they were searching for a replacement fighter for Edwards to fight. While on the Fred Talks Fighting he spoke about who he wants to fight and the Usman situation:
"I’m still going for the title..... I know the guys ranked above me right now are some heavy heavy wrestlers but everybody wants to see me fight a stand-up fight. Which, I don’t mind at all. Any of those guys would be awesome, Jorge Masvidal, Michel Pereira.”
He added:
“People are in-talks of me fighting Leon Edwards. I know Kamaru Usman is having hand surgery, I know they want to fight somebody in March and they were looking at Jorge Masvidal. But you know He’s a standup fighter, so it kind of inspires me a bit, our division is so heavy (on) wrestlers, and Leon Edwards is a striker and he’s champ. So, anyone of those guys would be awesome.”
He sparked a lot of rumors after his interview aired and the clip went viral on social media. 'Wonderboy' Thompson then apologized for what he said and explained what he actually meant.
