Kamaru Usman gives sharp three-word reaction to potential spoiler about his next fight during live show
The cat might be out of the bag about Kamaru Usman's next fight. However, 'The Nigerian Nightmare' played it off nonchalantly when a UFC Vegas 100 headliner potentially spoiled the news during the post-show.
Usman has been penning cryptic posts on X about a potential return to the octagon, ever since welterweight champion Belal Muhammad was forced out of his upcoming title defense against Shavkat Rakhmonov.
This led many to believe 'The Nigerian Nightmare' might step in as a short-notice replacement against 'Nomad' at UFC 310. However, as per surging welterweight contender Carlos Prates, there might be one more fight the promotion is eyeing for Usman.
For context, following his KO win over Neil Magny at this weekend's fight card, the Brazilian took the mic to call out Geoff Neal and Jack Della Maddalena. However, during the post-show, the fighter suggested that he was unlikely to get Maddalena in his next outing since UFC wanted to pitch Usman against the Australian.
Nevertheless, Usman seems to be unaware of the development, or at least that's how he played it off during the live show. Upon hearing Prates' statement, the former welterweight kingpin gave a nonchalant reply saying:
"News to me."

Usman was last seen in a majority decision loss to Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 294 last year. Seeing as the 37-year-old is currently on a three-fight losing streak, a fight against a surging contender like Maddalena might just be the opportunity he needs to get back in the title conversation.

Going up against Maddalena, however, would be a daunting proposition. The 28-year-old is in the form of his life and is undefeated in his seven UFC bouts. He was most recently seen in a KO win over former title challenger Gilbert Burns at UFC 299.
