Kamaru Usman is open to hosting Dricus Du Plessis on his podcast, acknowledges 'Stillknocks' as fourth African champion: "Now it's four horsemen"

Kamaru Usman recently heaped praise on Dricus du Plessis' following his submission win over Israel Adesanya this past weekend at UFC 305 and expressed interest in hosting him on his podcast. He acknowledged the middleweight king as the fourth African champion and coined a new name for the group of African UFC champions.

'Stillknocks' and 'Izzy' had a very personal rivalry leading into their eventual title fight that sparked debate and divisive undertones. Du Plessis and Adesanya squashed their beef and embraced following their bout and expressed the mutual respect they had for one another.

During a recent episode of Pound 4 Pound podcast, the former welterweight champion told co-host Henry Cejudo that he would be open to having 'Stillknocks' appear as a guest at some point to clarify his past statements. Usman mentioned that Du Plessis is an African champion that belongs in the same group with himself, Adesanya, and Francis Ngannou. He said:

"Dricus du Plessis is the fourth African champion, so there's Four Horsemen...I understand it was a whole marketing thing for du Plessis, which he might not have necessarily meant it the way that [Adesanya] might have taken it all the way...and that's why hopefully we can get Dricus on the show, he could talk more about that and clarify that because I feel like people are twisting his words."

What was Kamaru Usman's prediction for Dricus du Plessis vs. Israel Adesanya?

Kamaru Usman was among the many fighters who shared his prediction for the UFC 305 main event between Dricus du Plessis and Israel Adesanya.

During last week's episode of Pound 4 Pound podcast, Usman believed that Adesanya would regain the UFC middleweight championship because Du Plessis was a favorable matchup. He said:

"I'm not gonna pick against Israel Adesanya. I think this is a better fight than Israel fighting a guy like Sean Strickland...He can move laterally, he can set [du Plessis] up, he can land those low kicks, he can land body kicks...Israel has been taken down multiple times and Israel has shown you he can get back up to his feet...When he's at his best, he's able to line you up and he's able to land his strike."
