Kamaru Usman shares powerful five-word statement to express solidarity towards Israel Adesanya hours before UFC 305 main event
Kamaru Usman and Israel Adesanya have shared a close friendship throughout their simultaneous title reigns that still exists with both no longer holding belts. Ahead of Adesanya's title fight at UFC 305, Usman gave his support to his fellow Nigerian on social media.
With a simple Instagram post, Usman shared the iconic photo he and Adesanya took with Francis Ngannou in Riyadh ahead of the heavyweight's boxing fight with Tyson Fury. 'The Nigerian Nightmare' captioned the post by sending a powerful message to Adesanya.
Usman wrote:
"FIGHT DAY! AFRICA WINS TONIGHT"
With Adesanya constantly bringing up both Usman and Ngannou during UFC 305 fight week, it is not a surprise to see the latter two offering their support to the former middleweight champion.
Usman's message included a subtle nod to the controversial rivalry Adesanya has been involved in with Dricus du Plessis. 'The Last Stylebender' felt that du Plessis' quote calling himself the 'first' African champion was a disrespectful statement toward himself, Usman, and Ngannou.
Francis Ngannou joins Kamaru Usman in supporting Israel Adesanya
As the third member of the 'three African kings' of MMA, Francis Ngannou also sent a supportive message to Israel Adesanya leading into UFC 305.
With a similar tweet to Kamaru Usman's post, Ngannou wrote:
"The world belongs to those who believe, tonight it's all yours my brother. @stylebender. Let's f****** go. #3kings #wakanda4ever"
Ngannou has been a topic of controversy during the fight week, as the UFC noticeably cut out the portion of the video where Adesanya mentioned his name during fight promotions. 'The Last Stylebender' spoke about the UFC seemingly erasing Ngannou from its history, condoning the act.
With the fight occurring in Perth, Western Australia, neither Usman nor Ngannou are expected to be at the event in person. However, both will undoubtedly be supporting Adesanya from a distance.
