Kazakh grandmas warn "Irish boy" Ian Machado Garry against showing up for Shavkat Rakhmonov fight at UFC 310: "What are you thinking?"
A group of Kazakh people have addressed Ian Machado Garry's highly anticipated showdown against their compatriot Shakvat Rakhmonov and warned the Irishman not to fight him. They also asserted that Rakhmonov would defeat Garry and reigning UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad.
A video put forth by the @RedCorner_MMA X handle has generated considerable buzz among fight fans. The statement in the tweet suggested that the people in the video were "Kazakhstan grandmas" who directed a warning toward Garry. The video comprised English subtitles, as the individuals spoke their native language.
One of the women, all of who were holding up images of Rakhmonov, first stated:
"Ian Garry! This is our message for you, Irish boy! You shouldn't show up for the fight with our Shavkat. What are you thinking? You don't have a chance."
Another woman then chimed in by predicting that Garry would fall prey to Rakhmonov, and that the latter would also beat Muhammad and capture the welterweight title:
"You'll become another victim of Rakhmonov. He will beat Belal next. Shavkat will get that belt."
A third woman alluded to Garry boasting a perfect professional MMA record and warned that his unbeaten streak is in danger of coming to an end. The woman said:
"Garry, think about your undefeated streak, which can end on December 8th. Didn't your grandma tell you not to enter the octagon against a big Kazakh man?"
A fourth woman asserted:
"Also, boy! Find an easier opponent for yourself. But for now, you must face the consequences."
Together, the group proceeded to hail 'Nomad' and say:
"Alga, Kazakhstan. Alga, Shavkat."

Ian Machado Garry comments on scrapped Belal Muhammad-Shavkat Rakhmonov fight, eyes win at UFC 310
Originally, Belal Muhammad was booked to defend his welterweight title against the undefeated Kazakh combatant Shavkat Rakhmonov in the headlining match of UFC 310. Meanwhile, unbeaten Irishman Ian Machado Garry was scheduled to fight Joaquin Buckley in the main event of UFC Tampa the following weekend.
However, Muhammad was ruled out of UFC 310 in late October due to a bone infection in his left foot. The UFC pulled Garry from UFC Tampa and he's now set to fight Rakhmonov, and Buckley was booked against Colby Covington. The Rakhmonov-Garry fight serves as the co-headliner at UFC 310 this Saturday. Its winner is likely to face Muhammad for the title sometime in 2025.
Speaking to the UFC, Garry recently addressed the welterweight championship picture and opined that Rakhmonov would've beaten Muhammad had they fought. Furthermore, 'The Future' suggested that he is a much better version of himself now than when he used to train with Rakhmonov.
'The Future' recently indicated that training partner-turned-rival Rakhmonov did get the better of him in training. However, he emphasized that there's a significant difference between a training session and a professional fight. Reaffirming the importance of his upcoming fight against the 30-year-old Rakhmonov, the 27-year-old Garry vowed to emerge victorious:
"I believe that Shavkat was going to beat Belal, and then the next was going to be me versus Shavkat. So, for me, this is my world title fight."
