Khabib Nurmagomedov reveals he's coaching son to follow his footsteps
It looks like UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov's son has a future in combat sports. In a recent interview with Red Corner MMA at Eagle FC 51, 'The Eagle' revealed that his son has been training in wrestling and gymnastics since he was three-and-a-half years old:
"My son is already training [wrestling] and doing gymnastics. He has a good coach that I trust. He already trains in Makhachkala. He started earlier than I did, at three-and-a-half years of age."
When the reporter further quizzed the former undefeated lightweight champion on who his son's wrestling coach was, Nurmagomedov explained that he himself is training his son:
"You have a better candidate than me? I'll be coaching him." [As per the translation by Red Corner MMA]
Seeing Islam Makhachev's immense success under the tutelage of 'The Eagle', it is only fair to assume that Nurmagomedov's son will also have a great chance to enjoy similar success if he decides to pursue MMA glory.
Many of 'The Eagle's' teammates are enjoying stellar MMA careers. His cousin and AKA teammate Usman Nurmagomedov is the current Bellator lightweight champion.
The 34-year-old's other cousin, Umar Nurmagomedov, is a top 15 UFC bantamweight with an undefeated record of 15-0.
Khabib Nurmagomedov is seen as one of the best fighters to have ever graced the UFC octagon. The Dagestan native retired with an undefeated record of 29-0 and three title defenses.
When Islam Makhachev answered who would win in a fight between him and Khabib Nurmagomedov
UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev has no doubt in mind about who would come out on top if he and his long-time friend Khabib Nurmagomedov were to fight.
During a recent special episode of the Wahed podcast, the Dagestani stated that nobody can defeat Nurmagomedov in the cage. Makhachev added that 'The Eagle' has already bested him multiple times during training:
"This guy who show[s] me all roads, how I have to train, how I have to live, what I have to do. This guy is more professional... Even right now when he retired, he [is] still in very good shape... We [have] compete[d] many times. We have more than [a] thousand rounds in the gym. He is my hardest opponent... Nobody can stop Khabib in the cage, not even me."
