Khabib Nurmagomedov's manager makes bold claim on why Conor McGregor will not show up at Usman Nurmagomedov vs. Paul Hughes in Dubai
Despite initial rumors to the contrary, Conor McGregor is unlikely to be present for Usman Nurmagomedov's Bellator lightweight title defense against Paul Hughes this Saturday, and Rizvan Magomedov, who works closely with Khabib Nurmagomedov, believes he knows the reason why that is.
The Irishman's probable absence, according to Magomedov, stems from what he believes to be a lack of courage on his part. A large chunk of MMA's most high-profile Dagestani contingent will be present for Usman's upcoming title defense, which Magomedov implied intimidates McGregor.
While speaking to Red Corner MMA, Magomedov was asked about McGregor turning up at the event and said the following:
"No. He doesn't have the courage to show up here."

McGregor and the Nurmagomedov clan have a well-known rivalry, among the most heated in MMA history. Unfortunately, the chance of him reliving it in person again seems slim. He most recently attended Donald Trump's inauguration alongside several combat sports figures and UFC roster-mates.
Moreover, the Irishman is currently embroiled in legal issues and a seemingly futile attempt at facing Logan Paul in an exhibition boxing match. Meanwhile, the UFC is attempting to coax McGregor back into the octagon, but there appears to be no concrete plan in place for his return, not even an event.
The only news is that the hope is for McGregor to fight in late 2025, which should give him ample time to train and amplify his fitness to optimal levels.
Usman Nurmagomedov vs. Paul Hughes is a continuation of the Conor McGregor vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov feud
Usman Nurmagomedov represents Khabib Nurmagomedov, while Paul Hughes represents Conor McGregor in the latest chapter of the Dagestan vs. Ireland MMA feud. Khabib first ignited it by beating McGregor in dominant fashion at UFC 229, and reignited it by comparing Dagestan and Ireland's MMA accomplishments.
Hughes sought to up the stakes by inviting McGregor to corner him for his Bellator lightweight title fight against Usman, but that no longer appears to be the case. Nevertheless, the pair have drummed up more hype for their clash than most non-UFC fights are capable of. Now, it is up to them to deliver on that hype.
