Khalil Rountree Jr. should take supplement brand to court for taking "chunk out of his career", says ex-UFC champion: "I'm suing for all my worth

Khalil Rountree Jr. was pulled from his light heavyweight clash against Jamahal Hill at UFC 303 after the former was flagged for Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA). Now an ex-champion believes the 205-pound contender should take his supplement company to court for putting him in this position.

In an Instagram post following his removal from the fight card, Rountree Jr. claimed that he was oblivious to the presence of the banned substance in his tailor-made supplement while he was taking it.

'The War Horse' also clarified that he immediately notified UFC senior vice president of anti-doping compliance Jeff Novitzky and VP of anti-doping compliance Donna Marshal of the situation once he became aware of it.

During a recent episode of MMArcade, former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker seemed to be on the ropes about Rountree Jr.'s claims of being unaware of what he was taking. 'The Reaper' argued:

"The nature of the beast is that he was not the only one who can't take banned supplements... Every single one of us on the roster understands that. We understand that it's sketchy taking supplements and you cannot take certain things. And then you get these guys that pop hot because they went to some tailored supplement? [Whittaker said laughing] please."

Whittaker however continued that if the 34-year-old was telling the truth, he must take legal measures against the supplement firm for compromising the integrity of his career:

"They have just taken a huge chunk out of his career, a huge chunk of his reputation... They've really tarnished his career... If I took a supplement that had a banned thing on it, that had some sort of banned violation in it, that wasn't on the label, I'm suing for all my worth, big time. I won't need a fight in the UFC anymore because I'm going to take that whole company."

Khalil Rountree Jr.'s wife Mia Kang has been deeply saddened by the precarious situation her husband has been put in after accidentally consuming a banned substance, which ended up with him getting removed from UFC 303.

In a recent post on Instagram, the social media star lamented their current situation and pledged her support for her partner, writing:

"Our family will continue to suffer from this negligence- financially, emotionally, professionally, but what saddens me the most is that I never want Khalil's reputation to be harmed... He will be back because he was made for this and deserves it all."
