VIDEO: Khamzat Chimaev restrained by securities as cageside scuffle breaks out with Khabib Nurmagomedov's cousin at UFC 280
Khamzat Chimaev was escorted out of UFC 280 after a cageside scuffle.
One month after fighting Kevin Holland at UFC 279, ‘Borz’ appeared at UFC 280 while sitting with the sons of Ramzan Kadyrov. Once the event ended, the UFC welterweight contender stole some spotlight by getting into a fight with Abubakar Nurmagomedov, a cousin of Khabib Nurmagomedov.
The altercation between Chimaev and Nurmagomedov spread quickly on Twitter, with MMA Junkie saying:
“Khamzat Chimaev just got into a cageside scuffle after the main event and had to be restrained by security.”
Nurmagomedov had some fighting energy left after winning at UFC 280. The Russian scored his second straight win by beating Gadzhi Omargadziev with a unanimous decision. Abubakar was later seen holding hands with Chimaev, exchanging words, before the situation escalated and turned physical.

Dana White reacts to Khamzat Chimaev getting into altercation at UFC 280
Anytime a bizarre situation occurs, the media immediately goes to Dana White for a reaction. Some fans thought the UFC president might be pissed, but this type of behavior has become routine for Khamzat Chimaev.
During the UFC 280 post-event interview, White had this to say about the cageside altercation between ‘Borz’ and Nurmagomedov:
“What do I even say about that? It happens, especially with him. It happens… I didn’t even know Khamzat was coming tonight. He was invited here by Abu Dhabi.”
Chimaev seems to bring chaos wherever he goes. The last time he was in the limelight was at UFC 279, where he got into a physical altercation with Kevin Holland before missing weight and forcing the fight card to be reshuffled. The fight business rarely punishes physical altercations between fighters, especially when winning like 'Borz'.
White mentioned earlier in the week that the UFC wants ‘Borz’ to fight Colby Covington next, which could be a no.1 contender fight. The UFC president also suggested that the matchup could take place on the same card as Leon Edwards vs. Kamaru Usman 3.
