Khamzat Chimaev shares comical meme of Donald Trump's ear post-gunshot wound
Khamzat Chimaev has taken to X/Twitter to poke fun at the recent assassination attempt on Donald Trump on July 13. The unbeaten Chechen is often active on social media, usually issuing challenges to other fighters, especially newly minted UFC champions minutes after their title triumphs.
This time, though, he focused his attention on a non-combat-related public figure, sharing an edited image of former United States President Trump. The image calls specific attention to Trump's right ear, which was wounded by a gunshot in an attempted assassination, but is oversized and unblemished in the meme.
Chimaev did not caption the image, and has said nothing else of it. Despite his attempt at humor, Chimaev himself is in hot water over a recent meme-coin scandal that led to significant losses for followers who chose to invest in SMASH at his recommendation.
While his manager subsequently spoke on the incident, it was a disastrous attempt at diverting the blame from Chimaev. Moreover, 'Borz' has not fought since Oct. 21, 2023, when he faced Kamaru Usman at UFC 294, beating him via majority decision. He was originally scheduled to fight Robert Whittaker at UFC on ABC 6.
Unfortunately, Chimaev fell violently ill and withdrew from the bout, replaced by a former opponent of his in Ikram Aliskerov, who was knocked out in round one by 'The Reaper.' Meanwhile, 'Borz' is currently claiming that he wants to fight for the middleweight title upon his return, which is an unwarranted desire.
Chimaev has not done anything to earn the said title shot, having not beaten a single ranked middleweight on the UFC roster. So, it remains to be seen what direction his career will take upon his return.
Khamzat Chimaev's political affiliations are controversial
While Khamzat Chimaev has poked fun at Donald Trump, his own political connections have been under incredible scrutiny for years. As a native Chechen, 'Borz' has openly associated with the region's strongman, Ramzan Kadyrov, who serves as the Head of the Chechen Republic.

Unfortunately, the gross human rights abuses reported to take place in Chechnya have led to Kadyrov being heavily sanctioned, with many questioning why Chimaev associates with him. It has since been rumored that 'Borz' is now unable to fight on American soil due to his open association with Kadyrov.
