Khamzat Chimaev slams Leon Edwards vs. Belal Muhammad 2, labels matchup "boring" ahead of UFC 304: "Fans won't be happy about it"
Khamzat Chimaev believes the UFC 304 welterweight title headliner between Leon Edwards and Belal Muhammad will be a "boring" affair.
'Borz' believes both men lack the flair on the mic and have boring fighting styles. Speaking to Aslanbek Badaev, the No.11-ranked middleweight contender claimed that fans would be displeased with Edwards vs. Muhammad 2:
"Of course, it's a boring fight. Both guys don't have trash talk and there are no finishes. The only finish I remember is when [Edwards] knocked out Usman... One is working for points, the other is also trying to work for points. The fans won't be happy about it."
While Edwards and Muhammad are on stellar unbeaten streaks, Chimaev's criticism is understandable. Other than his title-winning KO win over Kamaru Usman, 'Rocky's' last finish came all the way back at UFC Fight Night 127 in 2018.
Muhammad also has a very low finish rate, with only six of his 23 wins coming via knockout or submission. His latest finish came in a TKO win over Sean Brady at UFC 280 in 2022.
Meanwhile, Chimaev is a potent finisher, with 11 wins of 13 wins coming via stoppages. Health complications have kept the promising superstar away from active competition. He was last seen in a majority decision win over Usman in October of last year.
Khamzat Chimaev says Darren Till is hunting "big money" fight against Logan and Jake Paul
Khamzat Chimaev believes close friend Darren Till's latest switch to boxing is fueled by hopes of landing a "big money" fight.
The former UFC welterweight title challenger's recent boxing debut came to an anticlimactic end as a punch to the back of the head prevented his opponent Mohammad Mutie from continuing the fight. While Till walked away with a TKO win, the bout was marred by a post-fight melee where both teams came to blows.
In a recent interview, Chimaev shed light on 'The Gorilla's' desire to take on the Paul brothers in the squared circle.
"Boxing, he wants to fight with this Logan [and] Jake Paul. He wants to fight with them. He is trying to get them... Of course, in terms of earnings, all athletes who perform at professional big-time sports, want to earn big money... Every fighter wants to earn big money to feed his family."
