Kiamran Nabati’s radar not locked on a single target in world title bid: “It doesn’t matter who has the belt”
Kiamran Nabati isn't concerned with who he challenges for the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title.
Nearly one year ago, Nabati made his ONE Championship debut, defeating Pongsiri PK Saenchai by unanimous decision. The undefeated Russian has since continued making a name for himself in the promotion with another decision win against Avatar PK Saenchai and a first-round knockout against Suablack Tor Pran49.
At 29 years old, Nabati could be two or three wins away from a bantamweight Muay Thai title shot.
It's difficult to predict who will hold the strap once Nabati potentially receives his opportunity, as there have recently been several title changes between Nong-O Hama, Jonathan Haggerty, and Superlek Kiatmoo9.
During an interview with the South China Morning Post, Nabati had this to say about not focusing on who has the world title while he climbs the ranks:
"Of course, brother. I want the belt, it doesn’t matter who has the belt, I’m gonna fight with that guy. Superlek, Nico, or Haggerty."
At ONE 168, Superlek caught the world's attention by becoming the bantamweight Muay Thai king with a 49-second knockout against Jonathan Haggerty.
The two-sport world champion won't have time to enjoy his throne before a defense, as number one-ranked Nico Carillo patiently waits for his chance.

Kiamran Nabati has business to take care of against former bantamweight world champion
On Sept. 27, Kiamran Nabati looks for the biggest win of his fighting career when he returns at ONE Friday Fights 81.
The undefeated Russian's latest challenge is against former eight-time ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Nong-O, who is currently ranked number three in the division.
In 2023, Nong-O lost his bantamweight strap and suffered another setback due to consecutive knockout losses against Jonathan Haggerty and Nico Carrillo.
Earlier this year, the Thai legend bounced back with a unanimous decision win against Kulabdam Sor Jor Piek Uthai, re-inserting him into the title picture.
With a win at ONE Friday Fights 81, Nabati would prove he belongs among the best bantamweight strikers and crack the top-five rankings. It'll be easier said than done, as Nong-O plans to showcase how much gas he has left in the tank.
