Laura Sanko makes 'pizza' reference as she shares three-word reaction to Khabib Nurmagomedov skiing in Utah
Khabib Nurmagomedov recently embarked on a skiing trip in Utah, where he took up the sport for the very first time. The trip was commemorated on another Instagram account, which shared both Nurmagomedov's quote on his experience and a clip of him skiing, drawing Laura Sanko's attention.
It isn't often that Nurmagomedov is put in a position where he seems to be a fish out of water. Yet, his lack of familiarity with skiing was evident as he seemed hesitant and even stiff on the slopes.
Nevertheless, he made it to the finish line without incident.
It is a testament to how much Nurmagomedov is enjoying retirement that he can partake in such activities, which he previously couldn't during his career as a fighter. In fact, this was pointed out by Sanko with a cheeky reference to a past Nurmagomedov interview.
The UFC commentator was referencing a sitdown conversation during which Nurmagomedov told the interviewer that he eats pizza every day in his retired life:
"Pizzzaaaaaa pizzzzaaaaaa!!! #iykyk"
Nurmagomedov walked away from the sport in 2020 as the undisputed UFC lightweight champion fresh off a second-round submission win over Justin Gaethje. The reason for 'The Eagle's' retirement was the premature death of his father, who served as his longtime coach.
Nurmagomedov left behind an incredible 29-0 record, with defining submission wins over Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier, and the aforementioned Gaethje.
Despite the UFC's best attempts to coax him back into the octagon, Nurmagomedov has remained steadfast in his refusal to fight again.
Khabib Nurmagomedov set for stressful night as a coach at UFC 311
At UFC 311, Khabib Nurmagomedov will serve as a cornerman for both Islam Makhachev and Umar Nurmagomedov, both of whom will compete for championship gold at the event.
Makhachev will defend his lightweight title in the headliner against Arman Tsarukyan in a rematch of their 2019 encounter.
Meanwhile, 'The Young Eagle' takes on Merab Dvalishvili for the bantamweight title in the co-headliner.
It marks the most demanding night of Nurmagomedov's run as a cornerman and coach, but he is nothing if not confident in his pupils' abilities to emerge victorious.
