"Leaves the most to be desired" - Adriano Moraes lists Danny Kingad's Muay Thai as big weakness heading into ONE 169 rematch
At ONE 169, Adriano Moraes looks to remind everyone who the best flyweight in the MMA division is by returning to the win column.
The recent years of his career have been dominated by his trilogy of fights with the great Demetrious Johnson. With Johnson retiring and vacating the flyweight world championship in September, the division no longer has a titleholder.
On Nov. 8 at Lumpinee Stadium, the former longtime divisional king is back in action to show that he's still the best around when he competes in another rematch.
The Brazilian submitted Danny Kingad seven years ago but it's a testament to both men that they're still competing at the highest level.
When Adriano Moraes broke down the fight in a recent interview with ONE Championship, he provided two key areas where he believes he holds an advantage over his former foe.
Fortunately for Moraes, they're two of his strongest skillsets which makes him a tough match-up on paper for 'The King':
"And the past that leaves the most to be desired is Muay Thai, the clinch part, the use of angles and knees. And, of course, jiu-jitsu. I believe that jiu-jitsu is his weakness."
Adriano Moraes is still getting better
Adriano Moraes has been competing at the top of the flyweight MMA division for so long but that doesn't mean that he isn't still getting better.
His trilogy with Demetrious Johnson may not have gone his way, but he will have undoubtedly learned from these experiences and improved.
We will get to see that on his return at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, where a win over Kingad is going to send a message to the rest of the division.
He's still here to stay even in the absence of his great rival, but if Kingad can pull off the victory and get his revenge, it would be massive for him.
ONE 169 will be available to active Amazon Prime Video subscribers in North America.
