Leon Edwards denies Belal Muhammad's title shot callouts
Leon Edwards has shut down Belal Muhammad’s title shot callout.
When you become a UFC champion, a massive target is placed on your back. Since dethroning Kamaru Usman in August, Edwards has been called out by most of the top five welterweights. The latest callout comes from No.4-ranked Belal Muhammad. When asked if he was fighting at UFC 286, ‘Remember The Name’ took to Twitter to write:
“I signed just Waiting for Leon”
The widespread expectation has been that Kamaru Usman will get an immediate rematch against Edwards at UFC 286. ‘Rocky’ saw Muhammad’s tweet and didn’t seem amused. He responded with:
“Shut up you bum you ain’t getting a title shot”
Leon Edwards and Belal Muhammad fought back in March 2021. The fight ended abruptly after ‘Rocky’ landed a brutal eye poke that led to a no contest. Since then, ‘Remember The Name’ has had four consecutive wins against Demian Maia, Stephen Thompson, Vicente Luque, and Sean Brady. Although the 34-year-old contender is inching closer to a title shot, the welterweight champion seems to have other plans.

UFC 286 will officially be held at the O2 Arena, with Leon Edwards expected to headline
Seven months after their first fight, Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman are now rumored to have their rematch at UFC 286 on March 18. Although the fight hasn’t been confirmed, few people have argued if Usman is deserving of an instant rematch.
The primary question has been the venue for Edwards’ title defense. There were rumors that it would take place at the Wembley Stadium or somewhere in Cardiff. It turns out the UFC is returning to the O2 Arena, where two events were already held earlier this year. The official announcement was made on Instagram with the caption:
“It's happening! We're taking #UFC286 to London and it's going to be a big one! 🇬🇧”
Edwards shocked the MMA world by ending Usman’s title reign in the final minute of the fight. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ now has an opportunity to showcase his ability to bounce back from a brutal knockout. With that said, ‘Rocky’ is riding a massive wave of momentum from his historic knockout at UFC 278.
