Leon Edwards narrates his side of elevator run-in with Belal Muhammad: "In the lift he was mad quiet"
Leon Edwards is set to make his return to the octagon when he faces Belal Muhammad in the main event of UFC 304 this weekend. 'Rocky', who will look to defend his welterweight title for the third time, recently shared details of a run-in he had with his opponent in the elevator at the fighter hotel.
Speaking at his UFC 304 media day appearance, the welterweight champion stated:
"I was going up to floor three, [the elevator] opened and he was standing right there in front and I think he thought in his head that I wouldn't have came into the lift. So, I walked straight into the lift and said, 'press number three', and that was it."
He claimed that Muhammad's energy changed outside of the elevator, adding:
"We came out and it's weird because in the lift, he was mad quiet then after the lift opened and everyone was outside, he's like, 'oh, p**sy, blah, blah, blah. It's like, bro, why didn't you say all this in the lift? We were just in the lift. You know what I mean?"

Edwards laughed when told that Muhammad claimed he was sizing up 'Rocky's' younger brother and former Bellator middleweight title challenger Fabian Edwards. The welterweight champion and 'Remember the Name' headlined UFC Fight Night 187 in March 2021.
They were unable to get out of the second round, however, after an accidental eye poke rendered the latter unable to continue. They will have the opportunity to settle the score with much higher stakes on the line this weekend.
Leon Edwards dismisses Belal Muhammad's Khabib Nurmagomedov comparisons
It is no secret that Belal Muhammad will likely look to wrestle Leon Edwards when they clash at UFC 304. 'Rocky' dismissed his opponent's wrestling, claiming that he is not Georges St-Pierre or Khabib Nurmagomedov.
He then fired back at the No.2-ranked welterweight's claims that he will replicate what Khabib Nurmagomedov did against Conor McGregor at UFC 229. Speaking at the media day for the event, the welterweight champion was asked about the comments from 'Remember the Name', responding:
"I ain't Conor McGregor and he ain't Khabib. You can't use Khabib to credit yourself. You ain't Khabib. You didn't grow up with Khabib. You probably trained for a little bit, that's about it. I've trained with Khabib before. What does that mean? Nothing. He's using another man's work to gain confidence off his work, but you ain't put that kind of work in."

Nurmagomedov is widely considered one of the greatest wrestlers in UFC history. Muhammad will look to follow in his footsteps as he receives the first title opportunity of his UFC career.
