"Let's see who's the bigger dog" - Jarred Brooks out to prove his bite is worse than his bark against Gustavo Balart
Jarred Brooks is ready to prove to Gustavo Balart that he's a much more dangerous fighter than he actually is.
The American fighter goes toe-to-toe with the Cuban warrior in the main event of ONE Fight Night 24 inside the legendary Lumpinee Stadium on August 2, and so far, he's been unimpressed by comments aimed his way from 'El Gladiador.'
Balart has been vocal about his chances against 'The Monkey God,' asserting he has a much better arsenal in the grappling and striking department. Moreover, the American Top Team affiliate even suggested that Brooks' desire to hunt for a finish 'could make things easier' for him.
Jarred Brooks doesn't buy that theory one bit.
In an interview with the promotion ahead of his ONE interim strawweight MMA world title matchup against the Cuban, the Mash Fight Team star said:
"Let's see who's the bigger dog right now. I'll get him in that corner. And then when I have that little dog in the corner, he's done."
'The Monkey God's' grappling-heavy style has been a threat to anyone across the stacked strawweight MMA division thus far.
And though Balart, a former Olympian and a Greco-roman wrestling specialist, could threaten to spoil that streak, 'The Monkey God' seems sure that wouldn't be the case when they lock horns at ONE Fight Night 24 in a couple of weeks.
Jarred Brooks eyes first-round finish over Balart at ONE Fight Night 24
The top-ranked contender, who lost his strawweight MMA crown to Joshua Pacio via disqualification due to an unintentional spike at ONE 166: Qatar, knows that he needs to impress when he steps inside the Circle on August 2.
With that in mind, the Mash Fight Team star wants to enjoy a quick night at the office against the tough-as-nails Cuban fighter.
In a recent interview with Sportskeeda MMA, Jarred Brooks said:
"I wanna get it done in the first round. The less time I'm in there, the less damage I accumulate and the more shine I can get to be better."
ONE Fight Night 24 will be available to North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription for free.
