"Let's take it step by step" - John Lineker in no rush to challenge bantamweight Muay Thai king Superlek

John Lineker is in no rush to reach the very top of the division despite the instant success that he has found in Muay Thai.

The former ONE bantamweight MMA world champion has a wealth of experience when it comes to competing at the highest level.

That being said, he has very limited first-hand experience when it comes to competing in Muay Thai which he has done in his last two outings.

Lineker's signature fighting style helps to make up for the crossover because of his well-tailored striking, which is clearly working very well for him.

At ONE Fight Night 25, he earned his second consecutive knockout when he stopped Alexey Balyko in devastating fashion.

Despite being two-for-two in the bantamweight Muay Thai division, Lineker was keen to pump the brakes on the idea of challenging the world champion, Superlek.

He told Nick Atkin in a post-fight interview that he's happy to continue working his way up the ladder for the time being:

"I just started Muay Thai, unlike these guys. So let's take it step by step and maybe let's see later if we can fight for the belt."

John Lineker is open to fighting Rodtang in Muay Thai

Though he would like to gain more experience before fighting the top strikers in the division, John Lineker is interested in a Muay Thai super fight.

A clash between him and Rodtang Jitmuangnon would be one of the most exciting clashes of styles imaginable.

Despite the clear gap in experience between them when it comes to Muay Thai, Lineker knows how big this fight could be.

He's not the type to back down from challenges but continuing to rack up wins and experience is his primary focus right now.

The replay of ONE Fight Night 25 is available on demand for Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
