Liam Harrison says UK is in good hands with promising stars Freddie Haggerty, Ellis Barboza: "We're in a very bright place"

Muay Thai icon Liam Harrison is quite happy with the surge of promising young talent coming from the UK at the moment.

Before making his rise in the combat sports community, Harrison was one of the first Europeans who left for Thailand to compete at the highest level.

At the time, that was a very unpopular choice to make. But 'Hitman' stayed the course, and after years of hard work and dedication, became a three-time Muay Thai world champion.

These days, athletes in the UK have sponsorship opportunities to help them get to where they want to be at a rapid pace. Seeing the fruits of its evolution, Liam Harrison is proud to say that his country is bringing in some of the best talents with the highest ceilings.

At the ONE 168 press conference this week, 'Hitman' said:

"Yeah, we're in a very bright place. There are a lot of really exciting young stars coming through from the UK. Obviously, Jonathan's brother Freddie Haggerty, incredible young talent. And we've got other guys, like Ellis Barboza, he's won like, a couple of fights as well."

He added:

"We've got other fighters. We're fighing on other promotions. We're going to be working the way into this so, yeah, it's a very bright, bright time for the UK."
