Liam Harrison “wouldn’t have wanted” a better opponent than fellow legend Seksan in his final match at ONE 168: Denver
Liam Harrison could not have had a better dance partner for his final fight in the ONE Championship.
The British kickboxing and Muay Thai legend faced off against Thai icon Seksan in a catchweight (140 lbs) Muay Thai battle at ONE 168: Denver on Sept. 6 at Ball Arena.
It was an emotionally charged fight for Harrison as he bid goodbye to his competitive career after losing to Seksan via second-round technical knockout in front of a molten Denver crowd.
Taking to Instagram, Harrison expressed that his exit wasn't what he wanted but taking on Seksan for his ONE Championship swan song was a fight he would've always taken.
Harrison wrote:
"Wouldn't have wanted to go out swinging the way I did against anyone else... Thank you @seksan_or_kwanmuang999 🙏💙"
Harrison and Seksan started slowly in the first round, but things quickly picked up the pace once the second round began.
Unfortunately for Harrison, it was Seksan who found the target with the bigger pinches in the round.
Seksan dropped Harrison with a short straight right a minute into the round.
Harrison tried his best to even the score and quickly got up to swing at Seksan's defense, but 'The Man Who Yields To No One' caught 'Hitman' with a right cross for his second knockdown of the match.
Seksen then sent Harrison into retirement with an overhand right to invoke the three-knockdown rule.
Liam Harrison impressed with Seksan's otherworldly toughness in Denver showdown
Liam Harrison always knew that Denver's 1,609-meter altitude would always be a problem, but what he saw against Seksan at ONE 168 was almost beyond belief.
The British legend was surprised with how Seksan easily brushed off the city's thin, especially during their matchup at Ball Arena.
Speaking in the post-event press conference, Harrison said:
"I said to him after the fight as well, ‘Did you feel the altitude’ and he said ‘No.’ Did you feel the body shot? [And he said] It didn’t look like it. What a guy. But I honestly thought I was gonna win this fight, I didn’t see anything past winning and winning in style."
